Made some progress with the first of the two texturing videos for the farm scene in Maya. Took me a while to get my head round the liquify tool and honestly even now I barely understand it, my wood grain looks wild compared to Alan's grain. I don't understand how his is so uniform; for me if my settings were low nothing ever seemed to be happening and if they were higher the lines went absolutely crazy and I had to keep restarting the texture. Which irritated me because I'm sure it's not that hard to do and looking back now, I could have just copied his liquify settings. I like the way they look now anyway, it just took me a while to get there.
