After watching Duel with my mum we both came to a conclusion that the film was pretty good I think after watching once I dont think its worth rewatching. However, it definitely sparks conversation and discussion me and my mother were constantly theorising on what would happen next, who the driver was and how annoying the main character (David Mann) was. As he was instantly portrayed as lily livered, through a phone call with wife talking about how he never stood up for her the night before whilst she was being harrassed. Which instantly made both of us watching not like him much. Then came all the decisions he made when trying to escape, talking to people and in general trying to survive were just beyond stupid. For instance the time when he entered the cafe and picked a fight with a random driver at a table, without even inquiring who drove the killer truck. Which you could argue he was losing his mental quite a bit by this stage in the film, but even then he spent five, ten minutes sitting, rationalising and calming down, then proceeded to start a random fight. Another thing he failed to do for the majority of the film was just calling the police, which he tried to once, yet had maybe two or three opportunities before that to call them whilst in shelter and supposedly safe from the truck. Which both me and my mum found super irritating. But despite that I'd still maybe say this film was about a 6.5/10 and I'd say was a pretty interesting debut by the director Steven Spielberg.
