Maya: Pose Practice with MooM

Today we were tasked to learn and practice posing the character MooM in Maya. As a refresher to using rigs in Maya and to familiarize ourselves with the way joints work.

This rig has leg and arm controls that allow the control type to be switched from an IK to a FK. Meaning that we can switch the rigs arms and leg joints to bend by themselves based on the perimeters and limitations they were made with, or we can swap the control type to one that allows us to be able to bend and rotate the limbs and joints ourselves. Which can be more beneficial at times, for instance, if the pose required the hand to stay locked in a singular position whilst the body moved and wobbled.

Lighting and Rendering: Light Filters

I tried to follow along with this tutorial but, didn't have the option to use light filters for some reason. I couldn't find them in any other menu either. So, I watched the tutorial to the end regardless.

Character Design: Warm up Session 1

We were given an item and told to research the item, looking into many ways it can look at its most authentic state, then draw it again with some character and personality. Old worn out clown shoes all busted and falling apart.
