Premise: Art of & Reflective Statement

Reflective Statement:

For this project we had to create an animation focused premise, working on world building and technical skills in Autodesk Maya.

I feel pretty good about this project, I found working on it quite interesting as I half worked backwards. Meaning after I had some thumbnails and basic ideas down, I went straight into Maya and started making models rather than what I usually do with projects; doing things very systematically doing all the drawing then all the 3D work then finish. But, it was quite refreshing working like this. I've felt quite burnt out recently so I'm glad this was fun to make and I'm glad it turned out well.

The biggest downside is definitely the final piece, I rendered the scene in Maya and messed up the timings with the camera, so its really fast paced. Which is a shame, because it ends extremely quickly and gives you no time to actually look at many of the models at all. The render is also very grainy which I didn't notice at the time of rendering as I was working on a smaller screen and as soon as I transferred it for editing on my actual computer and not my laptop I could see all the faults in the render quality.

Lighting and Rendering: Light Filters

I tried to follow along with this tutorial but, didn't have the option to use light filters for some reason. I couldn't find them in any other menu either. So, I watched the tutorial to the end regardless.

Character Design: Warm up Session 1

We were given an item and told to research the item, looking into many ways it can look at its most authentic state, then draw it again with some character and personality. Old worn out clown shoes all busted and falling apart.
