Script to Screen: Chicken Production Art

Completed some production art for the chickens design:

Film Review: Duel

After watching Duel with my mum we both came to a conclusion that the film was pretty good I think after watching once I dont think its worth rewatching. However, it definitely sparks conversation and discussion me and my mother were constantly theorising on what would happen next, who the driver was and how annoying the main character (David Mann) was. As he was instantly portrayed as lily livered, through a phone call with wife talking about how he never stood up for her the night before whilst she was being harrassed. Which instantly made both of us watching not like him much. Then came all the decisions he made when trying to escape, talking to people and in general trying to survive were just beyond stupid. For instance the time when he entered the cafe and picked a fight with a random driver at a table, without even inquiring who drove the killer truck. Which you could argue he was losing his mental quite a bit by this stage in the film, but even then he spent five, ten minu...

Script to Screen: Chef Production Art

Production art sheet for the main the first main character in the animation: Chef. I tried to make him look kind of hopeless and tired. Chef will be a very unlucky chef who landed a job working aboard a ferry. Whose luck finally seemed to start looking up though, it's only a matter of time before something goes wrong for him. (Live chicken aboard ship who manages to flee the chefs grasp many a time, leading him off the ship and gets them both stuck in a recently filled pit of cement).

Script to Screen: Environment Thumbnails

Initial design ideas for the three places my animation will most likely take place in; starting in a kitchen, to a outside view of the port to the construction site. Which will be where the animation will finish.

Script to Screen: Prop Design

I had three main candidates for potential cement mixers so I decided to draw them all and then try to picture which of the three fit the scene best. Which led to me choosing the first (cement stand on a stand).

Kitbash Robot Challenge

We had a kitbash today with Meg and Tom and were asked to make a robot using the parts they had made in the file and I made this robot: Not entirely sure how exactly it moves but, I think it looks kinda cool.

Script to Screen: Scene Props and Compositions

I drew a few sketches showing what I think will be in the animation for the most part. Like the cement mixer, a crane since their will be a building site, the typical coloured crates scattered around port areas. As well as, a few scene compositions which admittedly are quite boring but, are the first ideas I've come up with. I've felt a little stuck with progression in this project recently and I think its because I don't have a solid plan or idea yet. So I'm going to try write the and storyboard some really basic ideas so I can start properly planning what I need for the finished animation.

Script to Screen: Chicken Thumbnails

Some drawings of chickens for the second and final character in my animation.

Script to Screen: Chef

I finally have a solid idea for how my chef character will look, so I can now move on to the characters production art and concept art for the animation, the other character in my production will be a live chicken that the chef will chase through the port and toward the cement mixer.

Session With Justin

I had an opportunity to discuss my idea with a tutor called Justin and got some feedback: The idea is okay, but he felt it should have more of a focus on the chase rather than trying to set up an elaborate plot. He suggested I start on a ship with a live chicken or animal and have the chicken outsmart the chef continuously. Leading him to leave the ship and eventually get stuck in cement with the chicken and be unable to get the chicken as the boat sails off.  He also suggested that leaving the fantasy aspect of mt original idea would lead to a stronger concept and idea.

Film Review: Rope

Today, I finished watching the film Rope directed by Alfred Hitchcock. I thought the beginning of the film was extremely boring because it was all setting up for the final act. Which I went back to watch after seeing the ending. So I could go back and actually pay attention to the start and I think overall it was a pretty good film. I didn't find it especially suspenseful but, definitely still enjoyed it I liked the flow of the characters Philip and Brandon going more and more mad as the perfect plan is slowly unwrapped by their university lecturer. I probably wouldn't watch it again, I feel like now I've seen it there's not much reason to rewatch, and I'd rate it maybe 7/10 if I had to rate it overall. I also found it really weird how everyone stood so close to each other, which made me feel uncomfortable at times.

Soundscapes: img1 Edited sounds

I had a go at editing some of the prior ten noises using what I had learnt from my last Audition session and I think they are okay but, I'm going to wait and do more sessions on Audition before making anything final. Soundscapes: Recorded sounds

I've recorded some sounds for the first image of the three: The image made me think of leaves and wind turbines so I wanted noised that were leaf like, windy and and metallic. Because these leaf-like things look incredibly hard to me.
